Jamie Watson’s first Major League Soccer goal ended a league-record scoring drought at 557 minutes for Real Salt Lake and lifted the expansion club to a 1-1 tie with the visiting Los Angeles Galaxy last night.

Jean Philippe Peguero, Jovan Kirovski and David Ben-Dayan scored goals to help the Colorado Rapids clinch a playoff spot with a 3-1 victory over Chivas USA on Saturday night. Colorado’s fourth victory in six games allowed the Rapids (11-13-4) to secure a playoff spot for the fourth consecutive season.

NCAA soccer record broken

AP reports that the Oneonta State University women’s soccer team broke a record for the most consecutive conference games without a loss.

Why can’t they just say the most wins in a row? They’ve gotta whip out the double negatives….

Otherwise, a rather impressive feat by a young bunch of ladies. Keep up the good work!


France’s soccer players fooled!

While the President of France, Jacques Chirac, was in the hospital, and impersonator thought it would be funny to well impersonate the President during the national anthem.

Needless to say, the players weren’t too pleased after learning of the hoax.

CSA can’t decide where to build

Talks have been going on for some time to decide where the CSA (Canadian Soccer Association) should build a 20,000 set stadium.

Well, it looks like their most recent site to build has been booted.

It looks like politics are playing a roll, while both sides set and point fingers about locations and costs.

Sigh…. Let’s just play already.


No fans at soccer games?

Here’s an interesting story.

Because of a previous incident where an AC goalkeeper was hit by a flare by Inter fans, the Union of European Football Associations bared fans from attending the teams first four Champions League matches.

It would certainly be odd to play in such an environment!

“You can’t play soccer like this. It’s unbelievable,” Inter coach Roberto Mancini said after the match. “The team was very tense having to play without fans. It’s really absurd.”
