Houllier set for Villa role

Beckham could play in Galaxy's game on Saturday (AP)
David Beckham is eligible to play in the Los Angeles Galaxy's home MLS game against Columbus on Saturday after being sidelined for almost six months with an Achilles' tendon injury. Beckham tore his left tendon on March 14 while playing on loan with AC Milan, undergoing surgery two days later on an injury that prevented him from playing in the World Cup.

Germany Reaches Cup Semifinals
Defending champion Germany is too strong for North Korea, winning 3-0 in Wuhan, China, to reach the semifinals of the Women's World Cup.

Revolution-Chivas USA Preview (AP)
Returning to the playoffs is a dim prospect for the New England Revolution and Chivas USA. The clubs may have an even bleaker outlook after facing each other at The Home Depot Center on Friday night. The Revolution (7-12-3) are eight points out of playoff position, putting their franchise-record postseason streak in serious jeopardy with eight games to play.

MLS All-Stars vs. West Ham United
MLS seeks its fourth consecutive all-star victory over a European foe in preseason training when the All-Stars host West Ham United in Toronto.

The Dynamo's Double Standard
The Houston Dynamo rallies with two goals in the second half to beat the New England Revolution 2-1 in the MLS Cup, securing the win with Dwayne De Rosario's powerful 12-yard header in the 74th minute.

Sevilla a Major European Casualty

Sevilla were always fighting a losing battle after Andres Palop's mistake allowed Matheus to score the deadly away goal for Braga in the Champions League play-off on Tuesday.

Trailing 1-0 from the first leg after another error from experienced goalkeeper Palop, Sevilla could ill afford to concede. They went on to lose 4-3 (Lima scoring a hat-trick for the visitors) at home to last season's Portuguese runners-up who will now take their place in the Champions League group stages.
