The news of Fabio Cannavaro's very likely return to Juventus has sparked heated debate amongst the Bianconeri faithful. While he's widely regarded as a traitor for leaving the club at its darkest hour in the aftermaths of the Calciopoli scandal when players such as Alessandro Del Piero, Gianluigi Buffon, Pavel Nedved, David Trezeguet and Muari Camoranesi became heroes for remaining, many also seem to welcome the news of the center back's return to the Old Lady.

Brazil and Portugal ground out a disappointing 0-0 draw in Durban, to ensure both teams would make it through to the knockout stages. Chances were at a premium as both sides eschewed the opportunity to entertain in favour of a cautious, conservative approach. Given the talent on display it was a curiously lifeless encounter.

The Eyes of Borat

World Cup Observations

Some more observations from the tournament so far:

Why does Maicon get so emotional after Brazil's goals? Twice I have seen him holding back the tears, including after scoring this goal against North Korea. The Portugal match is the only one of Brazil's encounters where he has not been found sobbing, the first time since 1978 that the Selecao have failed to score in a World Cup group match. Surely this warrants tears even more.

Fifa's Worst Nightmare

Sunday's World Cup second round matches could hardly have panned out worse for the game's governing body Fifa.
