Schalke 04 went second in the Bundesliga on Friday night as Brazilian defender Rafinha fired home a first-half penalty to give the Royal Blues a 1-0 home win over Hertha Berlin.

Chelsea have denied making an approach to the Dutch Football Association for Holland coach Marco van Basten. The club's owner Roman Abramovich has reportedly offered Van Basten the manager's job at Chelsea, but the Dutch FA claim they have not had any contact from Chelsea.
