Koller scores to lead Czech Republic
Jan Koller scored the lone goal Wednesday to lead the Czech Republic over Cyprus 1-0 and back into a tie for first place with Germany in their European Championship qualifying group. Koller scored in the 20th minute for the hosts, who struggled to recover from their first loss in qualifying on Saturday to Germany. The Czechs now have 13 points from six matches. Germany, which is playing Denmark in a friendly, also has 13 points but with a game in hand. Cyprus remains with four points.

FA deny summoning McClaren
The Football Association has denied reports claiming England coach Steve McClaren has been summoned to FA headquarters to explain the team's poor results. Reports claimed the FA's International Committee wanted to speak to McClaren after Wednesday's Euro 2008 qualifier against Andorra in Barcelona.

Bayern appeal against Kahn ban

Morientes to miss Chelsea match
Valencia striker Fernando Morientes will miss both legs of the Champions League quarterfinals against Chelsea because of a dislocated right shoulder. Morientes ran into a post in the 38th minute of Spain's 1-0 win over Iceland in a European Championship qualifier Wednesday. National team doctor Genaro Borras said Morientes' shoulder will need to stay immobilized for two weeks and the player is likely to be sidelined for three to four weeks.

Gerrard leads England to win in Andorra
Euro 2008 Qualifying: Steven Gerrard scored two second-half goals Wednesday to give England a 3-0 win over Andorra in European Championship qualifying match, a result that will do little to end speculation that Steve McClaren's spell as coach could be over.
