Speaking ahead of France's eagerly-awated World Cup qualifier with the Republic of Ireland, Thierry Henry has denied suggestions that Irish captain Roy Keane is a 'thug'. The Arsenal striker has encountered Manchester United skipper Keane on a number of occasions in the Premier League. Henry is full of admiration for his opponent, describing Keane as a "football legend".

Fulham snap up Christanval (AFP)
English Premiership club Fulham have signed former France centre-back Philippe Christanval on a three-year deal.

United striker Jaime Moreno was ejected after picking up his second red card of the season with a hard foul at midfield on Freeman...

MetroStars 2, Kansas City Wizards 2 (AP)
Ante Razov scored on a direct free kick with 2 minutes left in regulation, rallying the MetroStars to a 2-2 tie with the Kansas City Wizards on Saturday night. Razov, sidelined for three weeks after undergoing hernia surgery, entered the game as a substitute and, after Youri Djorkaeff was brought down outside the penalty area, beat Wizards goalie Bo Oshoniyi.

Fire 2, Galaxy 1 (AP)
Justin Mapp scored in the second minute of second-half stoppage time to give the Chicago Fire a 2-1 victory over the Los Angeles Galaxy on Sunday night. The Fire (13-10-3) moved into a tie for second place in Major League Soccer's Eastern Conference with Kansas City. The Galaxy (10-11-5) remained one point behind second-place Dallas in the Western Conference.

COLUMBUS, Ohio, July 29 -- Major League Soccer will celebrate its 10th all-star game Saturday at Columbus Crew Stadium, where a league squad will face English club Fulham and its two American players, Brian McBride and Carlos Bocanegra.
