FIFA launch probe into Turkey violence
FIFA presdient Sepp Blatter has called a news conference to discuss incidents at the end of the World Cup tie between Switzerland and Turkey. Switzerland reached next year's finals despite losing 4-2 defeat, winning on aggregate 4-4 on the away goals rule. But the game ended in turmoil with objetcs being thrown onto the pitch and reports of a brawl between the teams in the tunnel which left Swiss defender Stephane Grichting in hospital.

Landon Donovan scored on a late penalty kick to give the Los Angeles Galaxy a 1-0 victory last night over host Chivas USA, making teammate Kevin Hartman Major League Soccer's all-time winningest goalkeeper with his 102nd career victory.

MLS looks to expand into Toronto (AP)
The MLS is closer to expanding into Canada. The league's board of governors approved an expansion application from Toronto-based Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment on Saturday, the eve of the league's 10th championship. Officials also considered a proposal to allow a new Canadian team to include three U.S.-born senior international players.
