Some Inter Milan fans shouted racist insults during Wednesday's Italian Cup match in Parma in a repeat of last Sunday's incident in Messina which stirred nationwide protests.
Ronaldinho crowned European Player of the Year
Ronaldinho has been named 2005 European Footballer of the Year.
The 25-year-old was hot favourite to claim the Ballon D'Or, having already won the 2004 Fifa World Player of the Year and the inaugural FIFpro award.

Gomez has hernia surgery (AP)
D.C. United midfielder Christian Gomez had hernia surgery this week in Germany and the team said Friday he's expected to be ready for the start of the 2006 preseason. His recovery should take two to three weeks. Gomez was the club's MVP this season after recording 11 goals and nine assists.

Chivas USA acquires defender from Real Salt Lake (AP)
Chivas USA began its rebuilding efforts Thursday by acquiring defender Brian Dunseth from Real Salt Lake in exchange for defender-midfielder Douglas Sequeira and midfielder-forward Christian Jimenez. The 28-year-old Dunseth, captain of the 2000 U.S. Olympic team and a former Cal State Fullerton standout, scored two goals in 24 games for Real Salt Lake this season.
